The Lewiston Police Department has notified Bates that there is no explicit threat to campus, and Bates is lifting the shelter in place guidance. Lewiston Police officers have performed a thorough search of the area and there is no indication the individual of interest is in close proximity to Bates. While we are lifting the shelter in place, as ever, be aware of your surroundings and call 911 if you see someone matching the description of the individual. The individual has been described as a white male in his mid-30s, wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt and black pants, with a prominent neck/facial tattoo.
